a shout out to Mothers

As it is Mother's Day (well, it is for me in Korea), I wanted to give a shout-out to my favorite mothers. I know I am not at a place in my life where I could be the amazing mother that you all are!

Mom- my real mom, she is incredible. She raised 10 kids, runs a business successfully and still manages to have her own life. You're the bravest, most devoted, funny and loving woman I know. You're my hero.

Laura- my best friend and amazing mother to Elijah (one of my favorite people in the whole world). Becoming a mom was so unexpected for you, but you have grown into it beautifully. You are loving, devoted, health-conscious (seriously, who knew that you would become THAT kind of mom?), fun-loving, and a blast to be around. Elijah is the luckiest kid in the whole world. You have that natural nurturing nature about you (say that five times fast) and have welcomed more than just Elijah in as one of your kids, the high school kids in Nelson are really lucky to have you in their lives as well. You ROCK!

Lindsey- my oldest friend and supermom to two adorable boys. I don't know how you do it either. Those two must be a handful and for me to be witness to the journey your family has taken since meeting Jon our first day of college, well, I count that as special. You two are amazing but Linds, you are the backbone of the family. You hold it all together. You're stronger than I will ever be and down-to-earth in a way Mom's are supposed to be! I'm in awe of your mothering abilities with two boys and nannying another little girl at the same time. Love you!

Becki- my little sister. Girl, seriously. You have the most gorgeous girl and I am really sad that I am not a bigger part of her life right now. You are amazing for doing this journey alone. Lord knows I couldn't do it half as well as you do. You are devoted to your little girl, even though she prefers pink and purple, and are doing an amazing job as a single mom. You are so strong and with everything that has happened, you are still standing strong and being your amazing self! I can't wait to see what is in store for you, because I know there is an amazing father for Naiyah just waiting to be found. I love you, sis!

Now I'm a little teary after writing this, but it's ok. You ladies are the rocks in my world, not rocks that get into my shoes and irritate me, but rocks that houses are built on. Solid granite that never fails. You are so inspirational to me and I can only hope to be half the woman that you all are. I love you all so much and wish you the happiest mother's day possible. Because you are impossibly wonderful women.

Thanks, Deb! That was an awesome post and I really appreciated all the kind things you said about me. And I also agree with everything you said about the other lovely women you mentioned. You are all inspirations to me as well. And Linds... you're nannying a little girl as well?? You're awesome.

I got off skype with my mom and was feeling rather sentimental. Still about to cry thinking about you amazing gals. Seriously!

Awww sweetie I miss you so much! It was so sweet of you to write this tribute (I needed it since Ben and I had a battle of wills tonight and I was having a really rough time). I am in now way a "supermom" but I definitely love being a mother and am enjoying my miracle boys. I wish you lived closer so that the boys could love on their aunt Deb more often but I love your adventurous spirit and love for life and wouldn't know what to do with you if you weren't constantly moving. Hope you are having a great time back in Korea. Send me an email some time to catch me up on all the happenings.

Love ya!
Linds
